Synchro BC seeking technical Director
The British Columbia Amateur Synchronized Swimming Association (Synchro BC) is accepting applications for a part-time Technical Director.
This position will involve approximately 10 hours per week and will continue for a 12-month term, from July 15, 2015 through to June 30, 2016, with the possibility of extension. The start date may be negotiable. The Technical Director position is based in Burnaby at the Synchro BC office in Fortius Sport and Health, and travel/weekend work may be required. This role requires excellent planning, prioritizing and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Stefanie Dickinson on Junior National Team

Vancouver Pacific Wave is proud to announce that Stefanie Dickinson has been selected to Synchro Canada's Junior National squad! She placed 7th in Canada and we look forward to watching her represent Canada this summer!

The National Junior Team will attend a camp in Calgary from June 29th to August 15th to represent the country at the 2015 UANA Synchronized Swimming Pan American Age Group Championships in August.
Revelstoke Rainbows Had a Marvelous Synchronized Swim Meet

This weekend my friends and I went to a synchronized swim meet in Kelowna. We have been training once a week with our coaches Carmen Legate and Sherrelle Anderson since October.
We left Revelstoke at 6am and drove to Kelowna. When we got there we got into our sparkly blue swim suits and then put gelatin in our hair. We put it in so that when we do our routines our hair doesn’t get in our face. Then we went out on deck and we did our warm up...

Synchro BC names solo and duets for 2015 CWG
On Sunday December 14, the Team BC synchronized swimming athletes were in the pool at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre competing for the solo and duet placements for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Synchro BC is pleased to name named the two duets and two solos that will be representing Team BC at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.
Duet 1 - Katrina Hohensee (Kamloops) and Sarah Jones (Victoria)
Duet 2 - Katie Stiratt (Vancouver) and Stefanie Dickinson (North Vancouver)
Solo 1 - Katrina Hohensee (Kamloops)

The coaches and athletes have put the routines together quickly and are very excited to be selected as the extra routines for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. After holidays, the girls will come back with extra motivation to get ready for the 2015 Games in February.

“It’s really exciting to be a part of Team BC and to take part in such a big event that so many great athletes have taken part in before us,” said Stefanie Dickinson (North Vancouver). “Working and training with the best in BC has been such a fun experience that wouldn't have been possible otherwise and we are excited to go up against the best teams in Canada.”
The athletes started selection for the 2015 Canada Winter Games team in August 2013. They have gone through a series of selections throughout the 2013/2014 season and competed together in July 2014 at the US Open competition.
Being a part of the Canada Winter Games Team is such an amazing experience for me,” said athlete Sarah Jones (Victoria). “It has allowed me to meet and become friends with girls from other clubs who are just as enthusiastic about synchro as I am. Although the training camps have been hard, I have learned to deal with stressful and tiring situations and have come out stronger as an athlete and teammate. I am so looking forward to the Games. Go Team BC!”
“The team has training camps planned twice a month throughout the fall,” said Head Coach Tara Gant. “The girls have come together has a team well and great friendships have formed and I am sure they will have lasting memories.”
The team will be competing at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre on December 13 and 14 for the solo and duet selections which will lead to the Provincial Championships and Canada Winter Games send-off at Saanich Commonwealth Place (Victoria) February 13-15, 2015. At the 2015 Canada Winter Games the synchronized swimming competition will take place in the second week of the Games, February 22-28, 2015.

Synchro Bc - New Event Manager - Jennifer HalfhideOn behalf of the Board and staff at Synchro BC, I am honoured to announce that effective November 1, 2014, Jennifer Halfhide is fulfilling all duties and responsibilities related to the half-time position of EVENTS MANAGER. Jennifer will be in charge of all competitions and events in British Columbia.
Jennifer has experience as an Event Manager at the BC Games Society and as a Recreation Programmer for the District of Saanich and City of Victoria. This will be her first time working for a Provinical Sport Organization. “I am pleased to be joining the team at Synchro BC”, said Jennifer. “I thank the Board and staff for the opportunity and look forward to the learning to come”.

Charlotte Tutte Memorial Bursary
The Charlotte Tutte Memorial Bursary goes to an athlete that participated in a BC club for at least two years, with steady improvements indicated by competition results and intends to continue her Synchro swim career to the senior level.
This year's Charlotte Tutte Bursary Award goes to Stefanie Dickinson from the Vancouver Pacific Wave.

Donalda Smith Award
Donalda Smith was a pioneer for our sport both nationally and internationally and has been recognized numerous times for her accomplishments and for her commitment to ensuring that Synchronized Swimming be recognized as an Olympic Sport. This award goes to the athlete with the highest achievements in the 2011-2012 competitive synchro season.
This year's Donalda Smith Excellence Award goes to Liza Leusenko and her Coach Kara Kalin from Vancouver Pacific Wave.

Excellence in Coaching Award
As part of the continued effort to recognize and support excellence in the province of BC, Synchro BC is awarding the Excellence in Coaching Award each y ear. The Excellence in Coaching Award was created to recognize outstanding individuals who demonstrate exemplary leadership in the sport of synchonized swimming at the provincial level.

Aisha Vance, of PSSV, has developed a media kit specific for synchro clubs. Aisha took the Media Communications programmer at BCIT and majored in Broadcast TV and Radio News (journalism). While at BCIT she worked as a news reporter for 107.9 CFML and for Astral Media Radio. After completing BCIT Aisha was hired at Global TV in Vancouver as a researcher and then started working as a writer for both the morning show and news hour final. Aisha moved to Victoria where she completed her degree in professional/ corporate communications from Royal Roads University and worked part time at A Channel (CTV) and CFAX news radio.
Currently she works with a NGO in Victoria as a Communications Specialist.
