Already partial components of Level 1 and/or 2?
For those of you who need to update or take your coaching certification but have partial components of level 1 and/or 2, here are the options available to you.
1) Take the entire CI course
2) Challenge the course. This means you will be evaluated on a written portion, practice evaluation and competition evaluation (cost $150).
**Please note if you choose to challenge the course and you fail any of the three areas of evaluation, you will need to take the course AND be evaluated again.
Please contact the Technical Director if you wish to challenge the course and she will put you in contact with an Evaluator directly, who can explain it to you in detail as well as answer how your personal situation would relate to the evaluation.
Offered Courses
Synchro Instructor Course
This course is aimed at recreational level coaches who have no prior coaching experience and for those who have not yet taken the old format NCCP Level 1 Technical. Starting July/August 2008 this course will be mandatory for coaches who have no formal training or experience. This course teaches the fundamentals of teaching STAR 1-8 figures to athletes, skill development, the basics of routine choreography and basic safety and planning principles.
This course includes four modules (Figures, Routines, Planning & Athlete Development and Effective Coaching), plus the Making Ethical Decisions module. Once coaches have completed each module, they are designated as ‘trained’. In order to become ‘certified’ coaches must then be evaluated by completing a number of assignments and on deck evaluations. An online exam will be taken to complete the Making Ethical Decisions Module.
Competition Introduction:
(Previously Level 1 & II Technical)
This course is intended for those who have taken the Synchro Instructor course and are now coaching competitive athletes tiers 1-5. The focus of these courses is on planning, athlete development throughout the season, understanding LTAD and analyzing athlete performances.
This course has 6 sections, which will ideally take place over a four day period. Following the course there is an evaluation process, which consists of a portfolio as well as in-context evaluations with a trained evaluator.
Please note that this course has more course work required but that it takes the place of both the Level I & II technical component in the old NCCP.
